Roger Robinson: Sound Man

British poet Roger Robinson’s new dub poetry single “Sound Man” successfully builds on his previous music releases (his last album was 2017’s Dog Heart City) by combining deep digital dub and memorable poetic lyrics.

The construction of A-side “Mirrors ’n’ Smoke” – perky music with conflicting downbeat commentary – reflects the devious methods of the song’s gluttonous leaders, vividly brought to life as a threat to freedom and the common man. With its bright modern tone, B-side “Sound Man” pays tribute to the legendary Brixton sound system pioneer Jah Shaka and adeptly puts us in the thick of urban tower blocks.

The physical version comes as a 7″ clear lathe cut vinyl limited edition (100 hand numbered – now sold out); also available as a download.
