The fourth and final series of Netflix comedy drama (starring Asa Butterfield, Aimee Lou Wood, Gillian Anderson and others) was released on 21 September 2023, with Furman’s accompanying soundtrack Songs from Season 4 available for download on Bandcamp or streaming in the usual places. Furman has said that she feels “so lucky to have had my music in the show.”
Songs from Season 4 is further to Furman’s soundtrack for the previous seasons which are also available for download and streaming; there are five songs from Season 3, and the songs from seasons 1 and 2 can also be found on a physical release, the CD/vinyl Sex Education Original Soundtrack.
Season 4 has three new tracks. “You Like Me” is a short reverie dealing with the fear of admiration (“it freaks me out”) and a possible new relationship. “Tether” is a dramatic, atmospheric ballad with a high dose of self-confessed trouble. “Honeycomb” is plaintive and gentle, with a longing for home. Yes, three songs only. Of course we want more, but we always do.
